Denis Lairon is Emeritus research Director at INSERM (French National institute of health and medical research) and belong to the ” Nutrition, Obesity and cardio-vascular risk” joint laboratory at faculty of medicine, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille. He has been working in human nutrition on links between diet and diseases/risk factors, Mediterranean diet and health, with about 200 original scientific articles. He worked on the nutritional quality of organic foods, coordinated the French Food safety agency report of organic foods and is one of the senior scientists conducting the large BioNutrinet cohort follow-up on organic food consumption, lifestyle and health. He is a member of the Scientific council of Organic agriculture (Ministry of agriculture) in France. He collaborated with FAO at the time of sustainable diet definition. He has been the Vice-president of the French nutrition society and Vice-president and President of the Federation of European Nutrition Societies. He is living close to Aix-en-Provence, France and grows organically vegetables, fruits and olives, laying hens.
